Cataract Surgery

Hearing that you have cataracts might seem scary at first, but fortunately our ophthalmology center offers all the latest and most advanced technologies and techniques to restore vision back into eyes affected by cataracts.

With the increase in the number of cataract cases in the US alone each year it’s important that you know what your options are if you are diagnosed with this eye condition. Cataracts cause the lens of the eye to become cloudy, which causes blurry vision that can’t be fixed by wearing prescription glasses or contact lenses.

With millions of cataract surgeries performed each year in the US, this procedure is one of the safest and best ways to treat and remove cataracts. During surgery, we will use an ultrasound device that will help to break up the cloudy lens into small pieces. Then these small pieces are carefully removed through gentle suction.

After the cloudy lens has been removed, we will replace it with a clear lens. Once the cataract has been removed and the lens implant has been placed, stitches may or may not be required before a protective patch is placed over the eye. The whole procedure is performed right here in our office and only takes about 15 minutes to complete.

Before getting cataract surgery we will perform a thorough eye examination to check the health of your eye and to make sure you are an ideal candidate for treatment. We will also need to take measurements of your eye and to determine the extent of any nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism you may have. We will also talk to you about what you can expect during and after your procedure and how to care for your eye as it heals.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding your upcoming cataract surgery, we are here for you. Never hesitate to give us a call or schedule a consultation to make sure that you know as much about your surgery as possible. After all, our goal is to make sure you feel comfortable and happy with the care you are receiving.
